i dunno it depends on a lot of different things ... i have an 01 neon only things i have dun to it is a performance muffler and a short ram and i got into this race the other day with a evo not sure on the year , even with his turbo he couldnt beat me .... i didnt beat him we were neck and neck the entire time the only time i really started to pull away from him was at the higher end rpms but not enough to say i beat him but i know for a fact with the right driver in that car he would have whooped my *** .. i mean i have an automatic tranny (which by the way mopar is runnin a car wit 900 hp wit an auto tranny so dont knock it hahaha) and i was still keeping up with him .. it all depends .. to be honest with you i think the jetta will lose cuz i have driven a few jettas they cant pick up worth **** off the line (not including any jettea made after 2000) but ya never know also i know that the sxt has more pick up power off the line than my car and i dont know why being as how they have the same engine but you sould probably win the jetta .. however i think your pretty sckrewed when it comes to the other neon

 

I think you mean you raced a Lancer. Not an Evo. An evo will destroy a base model neon even with a horrible driver. They run high 13s stock, a neon runs depending one which one runs anywhere in the mid 15s to 16s stock. Even slower if your an automatic. So the chances of you keeping up with an Evo are pretty much nonexistent, the lancer however could be done.

 

well must have been a heavily modded lancer cuz i know it was turbo, it looke very similar to an evo ... but like i siad the guy was a ****ty driver .. he couldnt shift worth **** .., every time he got a head of me hed mess it up by shifting and then hed drop behind me almost ... im not saying that it was a evo but i know he had a turbo and it looks like an evo wit the vented hood and all

 

dude an evo could shift at 3 grand in ever gear and still beat a neon unless its the srt4 or a heavily modded neon

 

you can buy turbo sound effects systems maybe he had one of them? lol

 

im goin with neonsxt.... ive ridden in an evo before and i have a stock neon. no way you could touch him besides at rest. ive seen those turbo sound effect things on ebay.

hmm ok well i dunno then i guess he was just drivin a lancer that was made up too look like a neon ... and as for the turbo sound FX i wouldnt doubt it ... if your drivin a lancer your already dumbe enough .... i dont know i just think that there no point in gettin one unless your getting the evo

 

Dude you will walk on the Jetta I promise my ex had one (AT) and I raced her at a light and it was like she didnt even try. If you dont win that race you need to look at the instument panel and make sure the check engine light isnt on because somethings wrong.

 

The 2.7 is a V6 motor. Also, you can easily put a 2.4 value cover on a 2.0 DOHC head. They bolt directly up. However there is a company that makes a stroker kit for the 2.4 to make it a 2.7. Just be ready to pay about three grand for the kit itself. Then throw in install, labor, and other parts, you are easily looking at over five grand!
