Default Car runs cold?

Car seems to take awhile to warm up for a car with an eletric fan. Usually they warm up quick compared to a belt fan. Is this normal for these cars?

your oil plays a part in warming up.if your running sludge in there like thick 10w-30 in the winter then it will take a while.5w-30 only takes a few min to start to warm up

Last night the avalanche took 2 miles at 40mph to warm up. It's a 5.3l and belt fan (always keeping it cool). The neon with a 2.0l and electric fan (only on when hot) should have warmed up quicker in my honest opinion took a little over 4 miles. Doesn't like sound much I guess when typing this, but it is noticeable. Just wondering if these are cold blooded?
*Temp was 40* Note sure of the oil weight in neon since it wasn't done by me. The avalanche has either 15/40 or 10/40.

Beast was my 7.3l turbo diesel Ford I had Usually the bigger the motor the longer to warm up. Ok. I am getting to know the car and want to make sure it all good. Don't want the t-stat stuck or anything weird. Wife is a nurse and works nights. Getting a call that late to help her on the highway would suck with a 9month old in tow

Just for curiosity, what is the t-stat in these? 195*? or? The avalanche is 184* I think. A weird number.

lol i may not be a nerd but i like that comment. the thermostats on these neons open up at 195 degrees. some people like to put in a lower opening temp during the winter months and keep it at the original during the summer. my 04 does the exact same thing when i first get into it. so i really dont think theres a cause to be concerned about anything. the fans wont turn on until the t-stat opens anyways. i never really pay attention to be honest, but you did ask a valid question. on the other hand i do recommend running 5w-30 all year round. but thats just my preference
