I just had a question about how this was done? would you have to go out and buy a new engine that is a 2.4L? or would you just go to a junk yard and pull one out? that way seems a bit iffy not knowing what kind of condition its in...is there any sites that sell the 2.4 engine? what other components would you need to have? does anyone have an estimate of how much it would all cost? seems like it would be a good investment. If goten through a junk yard would it have to be any kind of specific car? like only a dodge? or only a certain model car, im pretty sure the intrepid has a 2.4?? or can you just go out and pull a 2.4 out of any american car??

intrepid have the 2.7 V6 or the 3.5 V6. at one point that had a 3.2 V6. they have never been I4, or at least none made 98 or later. i think u mean the stratus. that has the 2.4 in it.

A crate motor is gonna run you $3000+, you can probally pick up a rear-ended stratus for under $1000.

 

My 2.4 came out of a 2002 Intrepid. After all the other little upgrades, I have spend over 4 grand. But keep in mind this is a fully built 2.4 with everything done. To just swap a Stock 2.4 you WILL NEED, DOHC wiring harness, ECU, and intake manifold, accel 24lbs. injector, motor mount adapter kit, and a fuel controller of some kind. A 2.0 DOHC head will work with the 2.4 bottom end.

You need to go to neons.org and read the 10 page article on it. Youy can go to a junkyard and pull a motor out of a stratus breeze and a cruiser. You mainly need the block and swapo certain parts off of a DOHC and put them on the 2.4 I was going to do it but i messed my car up. if you log onto that site you can learn alot about it, there are very many people that have done this sawp. good Luck.
