17 inch wheels

Ok guys this isn't for me. But my friend who has a neon needs to know how wide of a wheel he should get for 17 inch wheels. I know my wheels are 18x7.5. So what would 17's be.

same. unless he ups his suspension then he can go with 17x8, or just wheel spacers.

ok didn't know, also the widest tire he can run with 17's is 205/40/17 right. His suspension is stock.

my 17s are 17x7 and i can fit a 215/45
