Default Timing issue

I have a 2000 neon 5spd. My water pump was leaking so I changed it no big deal except I just done it 7000 miles ago. I did everything the same as in timing belt. So I put everything back together start in up came up to temp topped it of with antifeeze closed the hood and here I go. For about a mile and it just died on me It was acting like It had no compression. Get it home took it back apart thinking that timing jacked up everything was good. It will start now but only when you put the acc all the way on the floor and it will run like crap and it won't stay running. I do smell gas but one would think that it would not be flooded because of when it died on me. There is no check engine light on. Any kid of help would be great and thank you

Yes that is the only way. After futher review I have found out that the little roll pin on the cam gear was sheared in half thus interference engine I get to look for a new engine or do me some head work.
