I am getting new NGK Iridium spark plugs from modernperformance.com.

I just need your help on whether or not I should order the cold ones or the stock ones. I do run my engine hard, street racing, and I have a cold air intake so my engine isn't bone stock. I feel like I should get the colder ones. What is the real difference and will there be an adverse effect if I use the colder ones if I don't really need them? I also plan on getting the Granatelli spark plug wires.

I wouldn't go with the granatelli spark plugs people have had problems with them i'd go with msd but i have no idea about the cold or stock spark.

 

The only reason behind me going with them is because Modern Performance recommends them. MSD it is then.

I have another question...

I read that if you have an UDP that you require a bigger belt. How do you know which size you need? Also, I read in the High Performance Neon Handbook that in order to replace it you have to have the correct balancer puller before even attempting installation. Is there any instrucions on the net on replacing them?

For the harmonic balancer I recommend a bluepoint puller, trust me on this and save your self a headache trying other pullers. As far as the colder plugs I think those are mostly for forced induction or heavy modifications to prevent detonation.

 

with the UDP, you should have recieved belts with the pulley. Mine did. you should be fine with the Iridium plugs ( normal)

 

not to make it any harder on you, but I have the granatelli wires and they work great. Car idles better and pulls smoother in boost

 

If I order the MSD coil pack, do I also have to order the tach adapter?

I was going to get an ebay UDP and they don't include the belt. People have complained that they are rough and throw belts but I have also heard that if you smooth them first they wont.

No, unless you have a tach you are installing too? As for the plugs, I say go with factory range.

 

So i dont have to have it to make the tach in the factoryu cluster work?

 

No, tach adapters are for aftermarket tachs as you have a DIS and there is no way to connect the signal wire to the negative side of the coil.
