Default High pitched whine.

My 2001 Neon has a high pitched whine coming from around the power steering pump while at idle. I replaced the fluid in the power steering but the sound is still there. I can't find any loose pulleys on the water pump a/c or power steering. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you think I need to replace the pump? The belt looks ok not worn.

just check the Power Steering Fluid and refill it if needed... remember if the car is cold and ur checking it to fill it to the full line then start the car let it warm up a lil... take it for a spin around the block then pull back in the driveway and check it again b/c some will have migrated to the PS pump thus lowering the level of it... let us know if that solves it

Thanks for the help. I decided to run the car longer so I drove it to work. That seemed to do the trick it has pretty much gone away except for a little squeal now and then.
Now on to the next thing, squeaky brakes, squeaky struts, the rotten smell in the trunk, the smoke smell in the cabin, as you may tell I just bought the car.
Until my next dilemma...

if there is a whine comming from your car then these steps should fix your problem in 1-2 days.at least it did for me.

1. Jack the car up all the way up on the front side.
2.with a shovel carefully scrape the kitty off the bottom of your car.
3.check to see if tags are on the collar and if not throw it in your neighbors yard
4.take plenty of pictures.

FYI people a belt is $8.99 at auto zone.i should know since im on my third one.
