Default yay for cooling......blah

Pulled my motor and tranny, put a XTD stage 1 Clutch in, i threaded about this a while back asking if it would fit... but it did, no worries, ill let you know how it feels and what i think of it when i get it past the break in period...

changed all the gaskets, intake, exhaust manifold, head gasket, valve cover gasket, valve cover bolt gaskets, spark plug wire gaskets, therm. gasket, *** the works *** gasket kit for 50 bucks, very nice.

Now i have a couple questions...

I got the O rings for the injectors, now i know there is 2 mounting bolts on teh fuel rail, but yet when i take them out, the injectors still seem locked in there, how do i take the injectors out of the intake manifold....

and lastly, i originally pulled the engine because i thought the head gasket was blown.

coolent was rushing out the side of the engine, but it was on the corner where the thermostat was, my system needed flushed so it left a gorgeous rust stain on the side of the block..lol..

But as i was looking, it didnt look like it was coming from the head, but more towards the thermostat, i just changed the thermostat and the gasket for it, but then again it could have been the head too...

thing is, when i pulled the head, the rust stains werent on othe top of the block or the bottom of the head, it was still shiny silver...

but i looked all over the head and the block and there are no cracks, even cleaned them off and still found no cracks, used a straight edge, and checked for warpage on teh block and the head, and none was there....

what im thinking....

I noticed on the head when i took it off, i left the thermostat housing still attached to it... and when i changed the therm.. i tightend the housing down pretty hard, so hard that the 2 ears on the housing where the bolts go through, were tightend down on the block, and it looked like the middle of the housing was bowed up a little in the middle...

is there a certain torque that is made for these bolts, maybe i because i tightend it so hard, the middle bowed and was keeping the gasket from sealing....

any clue on this?

17 ft lbs. is the spec torque if you wanna check for yourself send me a pm and i'll send you to my site. It's very trusted by vocational schools, college, and shops.
