Default Oil Pressure Guage readings....

Well I finally got the right fitting to be able to put the aftermarket oil pressure sender into the block. Well besides the fact that my friend broke my autometer oil pressure sender tightening the wire onto the pressure sender (don't ask because I wasn't watching him because I hurt my wrist putting the fitting and sender in the block). So we had to get a different sender from Pep Boys so I didn't have to take the fitting and sender out and put my stock one back in. It was kind of a cheap one so I don't know how accurate its reading is. So my question is what is normal readings for idle, normal load, heavy load? I was getting:

idle: 40-50psi
normal load: 75psi
heavy load: 100psi

Do those sound about right? I have a new autometer pressure sender coming, but until then i got some cheap *** one in there so I don't have to put the stock crap in since its a pain in the **** to get at when your car is lowered and you're working under it when its on ramps.

Not absolutely sure but idle seems about normal for most cars. If any doubts would look to installing a manual pressure gauge and test driving it. Should be close. Just seems a little high at high end. What oil are you running just for curiosity and what is outside temp?

Mobil 1 5W-30 synthetic.....temps in the high 20s to low 30s. My oil level is just barely below the full mark. I think its high at the end too...but I'm also not using the pressure sender that came with the guage.

*Update*

Got new autometer pressure sender installed.

(Note: these are when car is fully warmed up)
Idle: 25psi
Normal Load:60ish psi
Heavy Load: 80ish psi

Those sound a lot more accurate then what I was getting before. The needle moves smoothly now between shifts and when I stop, whereas before it was a little bit jerky. I know that other was a cheap sender, but I think this one is far more accurate.

Okay sweet, I thought these sounded a lot better. With that other sender I was pegging the needle out past 100 when i really mashed it. So for those who are getting guages, the cheapo ones from pep boys or where ever else are not that accurate. I only went and got one temporarily so I didn't need to hook my stock sensor back up since its a pain in the *** to get at.

BTW....does anyone know what pressure the dummy oil light comes on at? I think its 10psi, but I'm not sure. I'm just curious. Mine dummy oil light is on all the time. But at least I can look over and see that my oil pressure if "A OKAY". I just have to tear my dash apart and take the light bulb out so the light will not be telling me I have low pressure when I obviously know that I don't.
