Default neon for daily driver!

I would like to get a neon 2nd gen. I am always on the stop and go, up and down steep hills, curvy roads, highways and city streets, all climates, how good are they with roads and weather?

I drove my neon around through some stuff this winter that I thought I was going to need a tow later on.. We had a snow that we had about a foot and a half and I pushed snow on my front bumper for about 4 miles no problems..

neons are a great car and really reliable.handling is great but there is on minor flaw.on some models there is no rear stabilizer bar(like mine).this bar will help the 500 pound rear end stay still during bumps while turning.its not extreemly bad but i will be having a custom one put on soon.also another thing with handling is control arm bushings.when i bought mine i had a bushing so out so the car would wiggle.lol.as far as steering its a great car.i just had mine up to 115 3 times yesterday and the 2.0L pulls great at high speeds.the torque in these cars are really great to.i just got new tires on christmas eve and i can still chirp 2nd(IN MY AUTOMATIC).depending on wether you get a 3spd or a 4spd will save you some gas.i dont like how the rear only weighs 500 pounds but it still sticks to the ground with whatever you do.also the front windows are auto and the rears are roll downs(NOTEn some models).the door motors for auto windows weigh a good 70 lbs.another thing i would consider is to get a 2nd gen(00-05).so wether you want a daily driver, something that you can beat,a race car,or just a clean looking car you can find it in the neon.

-Absolutely no problems with mine either. I drive mine 62 miles round trip to work and back. Mostly highway, but a bit of in town driving thrown in. I also take it to Myrtle Beach from Ohio. I've never had any issues with lack of power driving through the mountains either. If you find a low mileage Neon for a good price, grab it. These are good little cars.

Matt

i drove my dd for years... not in the winter though, but it was a great car, i never had any problems with it at all... i love it, and miss driving it every day...

great thanks for all ya help. I will soon start stashing some lute and looking around for one 5spd would be great. my wagon is auto but fast for my liking just guzzles gas and prefer to use it for weekends. as for dumping money I might do the same as it will be mine a not like the wagon that I am paying off bit by bit!
