Exclamation Tires

I recently bought 205 50 r 17 for my 05 dodge neon, I had 205 40 17 i wanted more lil more side wall well they fit they has to sand down the strut housing perch some on the rear but i mean there so so close, i'm just unsure if its worth it with them being so close to the bottom strut tower plate. what happen if i go around a corner to fast are they going to rub, the tire guy says no if they dont rub brand new then they wont ever, just looking for some idea's maybe 45's but i like 50 series.

u can run 215 45 safely 50 is pushing it. u better sand down a lot of dat rear perch if u want it to clear, if it rubs they are just going to wear down faster

they sandedit down but when you cant put a piece of cardboard through the spot where it is the closest, i trying using a ultra violet light and no light comes through. so maybe 45 would be better to do.. well i will have them sand more down tomorrow while at work.. i'll let you know

I took it back this morning to have them sand more down, but instead of sanding took air hammer to it, it will not rub now. fronts lil close but theres no perch but they tryed using air hammer to them i dont see much difference in the front but no prob in the rear now. if they aren't rubbing now then i'm good to go i hope

215 45 r17 then 215 50 r17 just makes the tire taller not wider. I don't understand why you have to sand the perch down. Plus 205 50 r17s are skinner than the 215 45 r17s.

well i put a few piece's of paper between the strut plate and the top inside of tire and it slide's easy but about 6 to 7 it's still somewhat easy, just not having alot of room making me nervous. will it run when i go over lumps or sideways or a hill or something

so it's about how tall it is not how wide it is for the perch cuz i was thinking of getting 205 50 r15s just so that my tires are slightly a little wider.
