Default Cold air intake?

Hey all,

I am some what of a newb so please forgive me for this stupid question. Why is this one cold air intake so much more $$$ than the other? I see that they both come with a K&N filter.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-01...1%7C240%3A1318 Cheaper one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-DO...1%7C240%3A1318 More expensive one.

Thanks......My Neon is a 2002 SXT

Hi, I have the ebay one and it works great, it sits in the fender well and it came with a K&n filter. Seems to be just as good as a brand name one. I would recommend it.

well... i have a 2004 sxt myself. what i did is bought the K&N Typhoon cold air intake kit. cost me $180. i know alot of people like to gain their own by looking to see how different they can connect things. with my intake it was welded perfectly, the holes were made perfectly, and the instillation was perfect. also, the intake off ebay only cost $45. but really, your getting what you paid for... the filter itself cost around 45-60. so the tubing cant be all that great. its really up to you. i really like my typhoon intake, it looks and sounds great. i feel the difference in performance as well.

well some words from someone who knows about intakes. lets see. the ebay cold air intakes are just a cheap brand and they still work the same as a K&N or AEM cold air intake.but when u buy a ebay brand intake u gotta get a better filter for it. also most people go for AEM or K&N because they want brand name things in their car. i have a AEM cold air intake in my neon since 04 when it came out. i think it was well worth my money when i bought it. if u have an exhaust it does give it a better sound because the car is now breathing some good cold air.

My ebay cold air intake kit came with a K&N filter and it cost me 58 dollars with shipping. I think your nuts if you go spend 180 200 dollars for a brand name. Its the same tubing, just a no name brand. Mine fit perfectly and have already cleaned and oiled up my filter a month ago with no damage to it. After a winter with it on it looks just as good when I bought it after I washed the engine bay down. And it gives the same throaty sound as any other brand too.

the reason people get K&N or AEM intakes is for the brand name. like if your going to fix up a true car then you put good brand names in there you dont wwant to go to a car show and be like yeah check out my ebay cold air intake and my mc donald decals.just trying to make a point.

Yeah, I agree with you, I'd rather buy branded ones to ensure its quality.
