Default 2.0L engines

I was wondering if anyone has tried to bolt a 2.5L crank into these motors? Is it possible to make a home made stroker? Is there a difference in deck height? would the crank from a 2.5L and the rods from a 2.4L work to make the 2.0L maybe a 2.2 or 2.3L stroker? thoughts????

Well i have done some research in the past and they say our blocks are supposibly the same as the 2.5 so i don't see why it wouldn't work. Most people don't have the time or are really cranking these motors out. Our 2.0 are based off the 2.2 and 2.5 which can crank out power and make 80's econo box cars run 9's and make carvans run 10s. Pretty much it's just a matter of time when someone makes a really bad *** 2.0 or maybe never cuz our cars aren't as appealing as a evo or etc and most will just build a srt4. Thats my .02 cents.

The SRT-4 motor was mentioned. People build it because it is cheap and is proven to last.

I would love to see a really built n/a Neon motor on these forums.

people do not do the n/a engines alot on the 2.0 just due to the fact of money... why spend ten k on an engine to only get 200whp, when they can spend 3k and have around 220-230hp on a turbo

until some one proves you can get 200hp for less the 10k all motor we will stick with the 10k total i've seen 175hp at the wheels out of a 2.0 dohc... and i've seen a 2.4 with the same mods cranking 217hp... thats just what i've seen... if there are better results i would love to see them... i'm always interested in all motor combos... it takes a lot more work to get less hp... then you would get by going turbo or SC...

I asked because I really don't know how much it is to build an N/A 2.0.

Well i read an somewhere back in the day that the 1st gen neon was the first american 4 cylinder to hit 9 secs in the 1/4 mile and still was street legal. There is plenty of potential and i also think 10k is way too much for only 200whp. A stroker kit to turn our 2.0s into 2.2s is like 2k and get high compression pistons with it and run 12.5:1 compression and i can guarantee it will be over 200whp. Add a cam, nitrous, intake, header and i could see someone getting some serious power n/a out of these motors. Since it will be a forged crank and rods you could run a nice shot of nitrous just bring your compression back down but still there is plenty of potential. I know you need solid motor mounts, built tranny and etc to hold this power but if we are talking money wise just to make a motor have power it's not 10k but building everything else to hold up will be costly.

closest i could come to the 9 sec neon.
