Default Transmission question....sort of

I am new to this forum, so forgive me if I am in the wrong place.
I have a 2005 Neon 2.0 SXT. It won't make a noise when I turn the ket to start it. I took out the air filter assembly and jostled a plug that is plugged into the transmission directly beneath it. My car started. What is that plug and where can I find another one?

"It won't make a noise when I turn the key to start it." What do you mean? The car shouldn't just be making noises when you start it up just because? Mine doesn't make "noises" when I turn it on?

The transmission should not keep the engine from starting, unless the converter or something is so jammed up it won't let the engine crank.

As for the "plug" and what is it, there are 3 of them on the automatic transmissions (you haven't stated what you have, just going with the more common option). For the part that plugs into the transmission, you would probably have to buy a whole new harness, which will cost you hundreds of dollars. Then there are the three sensors that the harness plugs into. Is that particular one damaged at all (you shouldn't be able to just wiggle plugs around like that)? Picture? Size, location? The big, main one should have a screw in the middle of it to hold it down...

i think he means by no noise is the starter isn't cranking till he messes with the plug and he said it's right below the air box.

Perhaps the starter is what he is talking about. All 3 plugs are below the airbox, so the question is still which one though. The one I can think of at the moment that is most directly below it is the large one I mentioned, but is the plug or the sensor that is broken?
