Replacing factory radio.....
My factory radio in my 04 Neon SXT finally went out so now im looking to replace it, I think i'm going to go with the Alpine IDA X200, does anyone know if this will fit without a bracket? Also to take out the old radio I need to take the vents out, unscrew and the panel comes right off, correct?
you need a bracket for pretty much ANY aftermarket radio. but yes, you just pop the vents out, unscrew, and pop off the bezel. BE CAREFUL pulling it off tho, its held on with those damn clips that break if you look at them the wrong way. good luck with the antenna too. i just rigged mine but you can get an adapter for it. i was too cheap to buy one, so a hacksaw & scissors resulted in a frayed coax getting haphazardly jammed into the back of my radio. hey, it works!
Just use a flathead screwdriver to GENTLE pry the bezel to pop the clips. I got my radio bracket from Walmart. (Scosche brand).
Heres a pic of my new radio (Nov 08).

the ida line has terrible sound quality, even with the imprint kit. i had the x001 and the x100 w/ imprint and returned them both.
save yourself a ton of hassle and buy the wiring harness as well as the mounting kit. don't forget the antenna adapter too.
