Does anyone know how the intake mani on an SXT works?
I'm just curious as to how it works. Because it doesn't matter what gear I'm in, soon as I hit 4,000 rpms something kicks in and it starts pulling hard. I believe the R/Ts have the two piece cast aluminum intakes that have short and long runners that open at around this same spot as mine pulls, but my intake mani is not aluminum, its plastic. And I'm almost positive it doesn't do the same thing as the R/T mani does. I'm just can't figure out why it starts pulling right there....is that where the meat of my cam kicks in or what?
My 04 does the same thing. If you listen real close it sounds like it goes from vacume to boost... Not possible but thats what it sounds like. Ive always wondered the same thing ???[sm=interesting.gif][sm=icon_rock.gif]
I always joke around that I have an imaginary turbo...and thats where my boost hits. LMAO. I thought maybe my intake was dual runnered like the R/T's, but I don't think it is. So I stick to my imaginary turbo story.
i have and aem intake on mine when i took off my stock air box thats when i started to here that sound in mines too. some of my friends i fool them by hit it. i almost no how to control the sound on it, expecialy when i get off the clutch what is that sound.

you are right. it is a vaccum pull. @4000RPM's your gears are designed to pull harder(power curve), causing a vaccum pull on your intake. just a another brilliant idea from mopar with their gears.......get more out of them than most other cars. most cars have it, just that in the SXT's its way more noticable. i used to have a honda prelude and a suzuki and they both did the same thing just not as noticable as my SXT.

Thats just where the motor starts to develop more power. Also if you have an intake, the more air you are pulling the louder its gonna get.
