Alternator Switch

Alternator Switch
Okay guys, I have a 2000 Dodge Neon. The area I live in had a really bad flood about a month ago. I was trying to get home and i kinda drove into a road that was flooded about feet high. The rain came down so hard I could NOT see out of my window. I drove into it very slowly, BUT only half way up my hood. Well enough the battery got wet. ANYWAYS, my alternator is basically fried. The barring is hissing like a bitch. My question is, Does it really take 2-3 hours to take it off? Or is there a simple way. I looked up the difference between the 1st gen and 2nd gen neon's. It's a big difference. I just need a little advice from anyone. Thanks much, it will be a HUGE help.

Only half way up your hood!? I'd say you are damn lucky to have an engine/car that is still running. Did you do a complete fluid change? Anyways, looking at it on my car, doesn't seem like it would take 2-3 hours to change, though I have not tried it. If that's what the manual says and you follow it, I'd expect to take that long.
