Read the thread, but in short, its only bulbs. They are very cheap, like a dollar a piece. There is about 6 bulbs, thats it. Fairly easy to do.

 

LowSlowNeon, that looks GREAT! I always liked the color of the Jetta's gauges. I have some questions...

1. I saw in your pictures that the red parts of the cluster don't show red anymore, is it just the picture or the LED's are so bright that overpower the red?

2. Do you think I would get the same effect if I used colored bulbs like the factory ones?

3. Using LED's instead of regular bulbs disable the fuction to dimm the clusters?

I really think that LED's are better than bulbs but I wouldn't want to overpower the red colors. Also if I'm gonna do this to the cluster, I would lile to do it for the dash board and the part that goes around the shifter (I know that last part is just a single bulb), but the dash board uses like 6 mini twist bulbs. Let me know, thanks for sharing...

How come in the pictures it seems like the the upper right of your RPM gauge isn't as bright as everything else. Just a bad bulb or what?

 

Let me take a new picture tonight or tomorrow, I think that one of the bulbs wasn't working. I took my cluster out awhile back and changed it. And yes, my guages still dim. The "red" part of my guages, aka "redline" basically looks like a dark blue which is cool with me. I know where its at no matter what color it is. But I will get a new picture tonight or tomorrow and post it. They look brighter now.

 

Sweet thanks man. I'm ordering my SXT gauges tonite. But I still don't know what color LEDs to buy. Most likely red. Unfortunately I won't be back home for 30 days. I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow. So I won't be able to install anything untill I get back. [>:]

Thanks for that awesome link! I read all 26 pages of that thread. A lot of good info and install instructions too. You can find info on the A/C ights also. I can't believe those guys are spending $50 for theres and have to wait 2 months to get it. At superbrightleds you can get them way cheaper and a lot faster.

 

Are those the same led's?

 

No they aren't, but those look crappier in my opinion. There are actual pictures of bulbs on one of the pages.
