Default what all will this engine fit?

I was wondering what all an 03 neon engine will fit. I know that the Hollander tells me that it won't fit 00 01 02. I would like to know why it won't is the bellhousing bolt pattern the same or diff? Would I have to change some brackets on the motor or the intake? The Hollander tell you the direct replacement. Just wondering thank you for looking.

the engine will physicaly fit. its just that the earlier years ( 00 01 02) used a different control module. all models use a hydraulic clutch except for the 00, which uses cable clutch. also the earlier years had a 3 speed auto while the 03-05 have a 4 speed

the PCM

One of the biggest changes in 2003 was the implimentation of the Next Generation Controller (NGC) which took the place of the older SBECII Powertrain Control Module (PCM) system. The NGC was used on almost all Dodge/Chrysler products from 2003-2005
