Guys - it's been a while, but I wanted to verify that the middle mount on the passenger side was the cause of the vibration after all. I am having *exactly* the same problem with my 05 Neon, and have changed all three other engine mounts, but the vibration persists. I was told by a mechanic last week that the middle mount feels "slightly soft" but is otherwise fine. One thing I have noticed, which briann510 didn't mention, is that the vibration gets somewhat less severe and more intermittent when the car is hot. When cold the vibration is constant and horrible. I'm wondering if that has to do with the nature of the mount. I read somewhere that this mount is fluid or air filled, while the others are just plain rubber. This might explain why temperature has an effect.

Anyway, I wanted to follow up and confirm that the middle mount was the problem and find out if there are any "gotchas" on replacing that middle mount. Thanks, and I'm glad you posted this, briann510 and darthroush, because this has been bugging me for a long time and no one has been able to figure it out.

The vibration in my car was absolutely insane while cold. It got a bit better when warm, but it was still there. Ever since the middle mount got changed, I've not had the noise/vibration on the inside. I'm not sure how the mechanic "felt" the mount. The only way you can for-sure tell if it is OK is to remove it. At that point, you might as well replace it.

If car has over 75K id change the mount as its shot im sure. While in there do the timing belt/water pump as well. Mt middle mount was the bad one all along and all the others were replaced and probably didnt even need it.

Well now Im having the same problem in my 04 sxt shes got like over 188,000 I guess its time to change the middle one which is probably the tranny mount which im guessing seeing she has to warm up even on warm days. Husbands going to change the tranny filter and fluid also.

The middle one (the actual engine mount) isn't the tranny mount. That's on the transmission.

Good than I will get my husband to change the middle mount which is probably easier to change that the tranny one when he does the tranny filter change. Probably will need yet another timing belt seeing mine was changed at like 114,000 miles and so was my water pump.

Actually, the middle mount is the most PITA to change. It's the last thing that comes out before the timing cover comes off. I'd wait and do it, and the accessory belt tensioner pulley, when you do the timing belt, water pump and tensioner.

Yeah, just do it at the same time then. Not worth the hassle twice.
