Amplifier Installation
I have a 2003 Neon SXT and I'm going to install an amplifier. I was wondering if anyone has found any grommets in the firewall that can be used to run the power wire from the battery to the amp. I looked but couldn't find any in plain view. Also, if there aren't any grommets available, where in the firewall did you drill a hole to run the wire. Any information would greatly be appreciated.
there should be some in the area above your gas and break pedals. they might allready have somthing else in them, but take a clothes hanger and tape your wire to it.. and then push the hanger through. shouldnt be too dificult... but there are previous posts on here of people that couldnt do it that and had to drill.
it depends on how big of a wire you have...i have a 4 gauge power wire so i couldnt fit it though the already exisiting holes...so i drilled a hole on my passenger side firewall...plenty of room there....
...btw what kinda subs did you get and what kinda amp???

I'll have to take a closer look to find out if I can find a hole. I am going to be running a 10" Bazooka tube with a built in amp. It's not much, but my friend gave it to me. It's less than a year old, and the only thing wrong with it was the fact that it had about an 8 inch crack on the port that was annoying him because it rattled (someone stepped on it while getting in the ext. cab of his truck). I just used my dremel (my favorite tool in the whole world) and cut out about a 1/4 inch of the crack, filled it in with plastic epoxy, smoothed out the surface, and then painted the tube black. You can't even tell that a crack was there.

I was wondering where abouts did you drill your hole on the passenger side firewall, and did you put a grommet in the hole that you drilled. Thanks for the help.

All the wiring is completed and looks great. And....as a matter of fact....the Bazooka tube didn't work. The amplifier was bad in it. It kept shorting out and you could hear it popping in the speaker. So I just gave the tube back to him. I'm now installing a Sony XM-D500X Mono Block Amplifier. I'll be pushing 500W in a 2 Ohm load to a Audiobahn 12" Flame Q Series Sub in a ported box. The sub can handle 1000W RMS, but I figured that amp would be sufficient for now.
