Hi all,
My neon has now 58k miles and I'm wondering if I should do a
transmission and coolant flush.

There are no problems with the car but I would like to maintain it properly.

But I heard that replacing the transmission fluid can create more problems by having more chance leaking later on. does that happen sometimes or it's more like a 50/50 chance?
if I do it, do you think the dealership is the best place to do that ?
I don't trust jiffi lub for something like that..

Don't flush the transmission...on any car. Just perform a fluid and filter change at regular intervals.

As for flushing the coolant, easy to do yourself:
1. Drain the old coolant into a suitable container (the car should be cold when you do this, for obvious reasons).
2. Place a water hose in the filler neck of the radiator, turn the hose on to a decent, steady flow, turn the engine on and place the heater on high with the radiator drain valve open. Let the clean water run through the system for about 10 minutes. Turn everything off and close the drain valve after the water all runs out.
3. Let the engine sit for a little while to cool back off a bit.
4. Make the initial fill, turn the engine and heater back on to cycle the new coolant mixture and then continue to fill until full, with everything running.
5. Done.
