SRT4 head on 2.0 block?
So, I was sitting around thinking of what I could pull off on my car, and I got to wondering; Will the SRT4's head fit on the block out of one of the 2.0 blocks? As far as I can understand from what I've read up, they both use the 420A block, but are the dimensions different between the 2.4 and 2.0? I can't seem to find any information on this anywhere.
So would I be able to bore it as much as the 2.4, or am I still limited? I'd suppose the crank and all that would fit the 2.0, if I could, and I can find those helluva lot cheaper than the whole motor and doing the swap.
Some srt heads have additional coolant passages drilled into them. I you want a dohc head, stick to n/a dohc models. Also take into account the variety of intake manifold used between 1995-2005, as they have different variations before the years and 2.0L and 2.4L models.
You say 'some' of the heads have extra coolant passages. What do you mean by that, exactly? Is it the '04 and '05 models that have them (since, from my understanding, they changed a bit from '03 to '04), or is it just hit or miss? The reason I'm so curious is that if I decided to go a turbo route, the SRT4 head would make it drastically easier on me.
What is the majot benefit you are gaining by using a srt head? Do you prefer to use a srt intake manifold, as they do no easily mount to a 1G dohc head. I recommended the 1G dohc as it has larger exhaust valves and ports than the srt does. The face of the 1G dohc exhaust valve is approximately 2mm larger than the 2001+ dohc exhaust valve. Stock for stock, the 1G dohc flows better than the srt head.
