Question Bad Battery Wires and lots of Vibration. HELP....

I own a 05 Neon SXT with 115K miles. The engine started vibrating a lot. I installed new spark plugs, Spark plug wires, Coil, Fresh Oil Change and filter. I run this sucker in Premium Gasoline since I bought it 30 months ago with 50k miles. I drive about 100 miles to work back and forward. It still runs 90-95 mph. The help I need is where do I get Battery Wires since the plastic is coming off of mine and what other ideas you guys have about the damm vibration whole car shakes bad. I changed 2 motor mounts as well top pass and lower middle. Due to bad weather in houston I ran the car thru high water as well you think that mess the car up this happened at about 80k miles.

No point in running premium fuel. Save your money.

If you want a replacement wire, you'll either have to make your own or buy one from the dealership.

All four mounts have been replaced? Did you do it or did a shop? Either way, was the torque strut alignment procedure performed after the mounts and torque struts were replaced?

If your car wasn't messed up then and there from the water, then you are probably fine. I would stay away from big puddles in a Neon. That's asking for problems.

Yeah I'm in the process of changing ground and power cables.

I just changed/added grounds cables from the engine block to frame and there was a noticeable difference.

Once i get my new battery posts I will do the alt & starter to the battery, and upgrade that puny ground to body cable.

Does anyone know the best way to get at the Alt cable? I'm going to straight from there to the battery (with fuse). From the factory it goes from the battery to the starter from there it then goes under the engine or to the left side(i think) to the alt.

the wire appears to be all 10-8 gauge wire, I'm upgrading it all two 2 with solder terminals.

Full report + pics coming soon

You aren't going to skip the starter completely are you? Usually the power wires don't need upgrading, just the grounds.

No, no... the starter will get it's own line straight to the battery as well the alt.

And the power is just if not more important then the ground, You usually want one or two nice sized Positive line's coming form the alt. the ground IMHO you can just use ground strap and attached it to various and random points on the car's frame and body.

Also I will be adding a few hundred watts via stereo system soon I will try a nice big boat battery first but I will still likely need a bigger alt. But I want to try to upgrade all the Puny and I mean puny charging system wiring first + new battery and see how far that will last me.

Yeah, the grounds though are usually the limitation of the vehicle's electrical capacity though. It won't hurt to upgrade all of the power wires, sure, but I'm just saying they should be fine. Anyone who has added a stereo system to a Neon, will know what I am talking about. Dimming lights, etc. In case you haven't heard about it, search the internet for something like "the big 3 grounding upgrade."

Alright, lol. I've just never heard of anyone upgrading the power wires is all. Never heard of a need for it on car unless some serious amperage is being drawn. I mean, it makes sense though.

I suppose so, I don't know why they'd have changed them. People just do the ground upgrades and I've never heard of an issue. Then again, I'm guessing not many people install so much stereo/electronics equipment in a Neon, that they'd actually need to upgrade the power wires. Me personally, I've got another car I'll drop a lot of money on before the Neon.
