No your right. they are junk. I've got another set of mounts that I bought from modern performance that I may go ahead and put on instead. I want to try adjusting the motor with the ones her dad got first to see if it does anything

You say "both mounts." Are you talking about the two torque struts? Those are not the motor mounts, well, mount. The actual, single motor mount is directly across from the timing cover on the frame rail or whatever they are calling it and can only be fully seen when it is removed, or the engine is removed.

Yea its the torque struts. I put the extra set that I had back on her car. There's still a slight vibration, but its nothing like what it was doing

Yeah, I'm talking the motor mount. That will cause vibration amongst other things.

Hopefully there's nothing wrong with that mount. There no room on the side of the motor to do anything. But ill figure out some way to check that out

What causes the mounts to go bad ? 203,000 on my 03 and they are original. Even with the car being totaled and all. Bought it new.

No idea, but spirited driving doesn't help (where inserts come into play). The torque struts simply prevent the engine from rocking. My car had busted torque struts when I got it, so it had apparently been driven like that for awhile. So, with those busted, the engine was able to rock back and forth (what the torque struts prevent), therefore I'm sure tore the actual motor mount since that was all that was left to hold the engine. The motor mount sits directly in the middle, so when the engine rocks, it'll just tear the mount from the back and forth motion.
