Strange A/C issue
Hey guys, searched but this one is a little strange and somewhat detailed.
Turned the A/C on the other day and it didnt seem cold, so figured it needed a recharge. Went and recharged it today, and it blew ice cold. Later in the day went to use the AC again and it seemed warmish again. Turned it off and then back on and it was ice cold again. Then on my drive home it got warm...think its the compressor? Has anyone had this problem? Don't think it's leaking/loosing freon due to the fact that it kicked on and was cold, seems very intermittent like its the compressor? Any ideas would be great, thanks.

The AC condensor ices over on my wife's Neon on very humid days and it eventually starts blowing warm air. I just turn the climate control to vent until it defrosts and then back to AC. Don't know if this is the problem you're having or not.
anybody got any other ideas of stupid little things to try before I bite the bullet and bring it in to get looked at? i know its gonna cost a mint ac work usually does but its fricken hot outside and i have no other choice
I had the same problem with my a/c and i couldnt get it working right. I recharged it and it was still doing the same thing. What happens is the a/c refridgerant is low or there is to much air in there. Even when you hook it up to recharge it might say its full because of the air pressure in there. What i did is got a old refill hose and cut it of and put the cut end in the jug. put the connector on the a/c line like your going to refill it and let all the air blow into the jug. its basically bleeding the system. When you go to recharge your system dis regaurd what your refill container says about leaving the can straight up to recharge. (it fills it full of air, not refridgerant) WHen your charging it flip the can upside down and it fills your system with refridgerant not air.

I know its not air in the can it makes it simpler for everyone who wouldnt know what im talking about.
