2005 Dodge SX 2.0
Hello,
I did a search and found nothing that helped. So...My dad bought a 2005 Dodge SX 2.0 (I drive it also) with the SRT Design Group Package on it and he is looking to get a little more HP out of it. Currently it has 132HP and he is looking to get 170-200HP. Here are the engine specs:
2.0L L4 SOHC 16 valves
Auto Tranny
I was wondering what we could do to get into that HP range. Thanks in advance.

Well you can get a cold air intake for around $200 but it will only give you about 10 horses. If you want some major increases you'll want to get a turbokit just like the SRT-4 comes stock with (250 HP i think). If you wanted such an amount of horse power you should have bought like a used 03 SRT-4 in my opinion instead. But like I said if you want to go from 132 to 200 you'll want to look at a turbo. If you your going to get one, get it from Chillfactory, they're specialy designed for neons. http://www.modernperformance.com/dcx...act_kits.shtml but its going to run you between $2900-3700 depending on which one you get. Are you going to eventualy convert it to a manual? I thought it was bad to have an auto and so much horses since you can't fully controll it or whatever...
I'd love to see some pictures of it!
OH, and welcome to Dodge forums!

Thanks for the info! I would have bought a SRT-4 if it was for me but my dad bought it for him...I just drive it more

um. 2005.. wanting a power increase?
id suggest reading about the NGC before even spending money on parts. whats the NGC? its the "next generation controller" .. otherwise known as the computer for the car.
why read about it? the NGC tries to limit power output. the 2003+ years are equipped with the NGC.
while doing some mods like intake and exhaust do seem to flatten the powerband.. theyve actually shown to provide very little or no gains, due to the NGC.. unless you feel like disconnecting the battery anytime you want power, id suggest looking into either nitrous or turbo for it if you want to add power, especially for a goal of 170-200hp

best place for NGC material is over at 2gn.org
couple people i talk to often were some of the poeple working on ways to bypass it, as well as figure out just how it limits power output.
http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=1481&highlight=ngc
or the main thread on srtforums.com that discussed it in depth-

i know the thread on srtforums can be a bit long and a lot of reading, but if you guys really wanna understand more about it, id suggest doing some reading.
