Speedo/gov problem
I have a 2000 neon thats recently been acting up on me. The Speedometer floats around all the time and when it hits 120 the governor kicks in and i lose power for a good 5 seconds. Ive run the car without the instrument cluster in and I disconnected the speed sensor on top of the transmission and the problem is still there. I did some research and theres alot of cases with people having to re-solder some points on the cluster, i did that too and no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks
forgot to mention, i did an engine swap on this car and the motor is from a 2002. The wiring harness was a little different, and this problem occured about 2weeks to a month afterwards. Hope this helps

It cuts out at that speed because it is made to do so, hence the governor. Unplugging the cluster and speed sensors aren't going to do anything. Those just relay the speed so you can see it. The car still knows how fast it's going. Are you thinking that taking those out would make it go faster? I'm not following what you are wanting with that.
No idea about the cluster though.

My bad, I'm not actually going 120. It happens at all speeds, 40, 60, 20 everything. In all the gears. The speedo will snap from 0 to 120 and the gov kicks in, it doesn't matter how fast I'm going. I took out the dash and vss just to try and diagnose the problem, but I still can't figure it out.
