Default Bumper cover

What is the black piece underneath the bumper cover? It connects the bottom of bumper to the rad support/ frame. Mine has most of the bolts pulled through the plastic. Thinking of pulling it off and fiberglassing over it.

Some sort of shroud, I'm not quite sure what Chrysler calls it.

Some sort of air dam? Mine was gone before I got it. They do tear off pretty easily on a parking curb. Concrete > plastic rivets.

Mine has stayed intact amazingly, even though that bumper has seen it's fair share of parking curbs lol, but my splash guard is torn to pieces.

I've never had a problem because it's missing, so I'll venture out and say the car will be fine without it. I've worked on many cars that have had that piece either broken about as much as possible without falling off, or missing it completely, and never seen a problem because of it. If it is supposed to be some sort of air dam (my best guess as to what it actually is; and if so, a poorly designed factory piece, as are most of those plastic..."air dams"), you are probably losing a marginal amount of air being directed at the radiator without it.

Got rid of mine when I rebuilt the totaled wreck. Now the slush and snow piles in and makes changing oil a PITA. I am going to put it back on as soon as I find a good one in the junkyard. If it doesn't snow too much in NC I would not worry too much about it.

By the way, Zip ties hold things together really well, as that is what holds the bottom part of the front bumper cover together on mine. Kinda looks like stitches.
