Rubber boots? A picture?

I'm thinking spark plug wire boots, which have nothing to do with emissions.

Darthroush, the 90° rubber boot off of the plastic vacuum line that runs from the back of the valve cover (just left of the ignition coil pack) to the intake manifold/intake duct & also on the line from the PCV to the air filter box.
Still huntin EVAP leak but found starting issue! When the car died on me I was checking some stuff I realized part of the wiring harness (i had disconnected to trace a short) was not fully connected. Doh!

Also, the your canister can be cracked and you may not be able to see the crack, as well as the lines. I'd have your Evap system tested.

A vacuum test probably wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Those elbows you are talking about would cause a vacuum leak if they aren't sealing, as they should. Maybe as a test, get some hose clamps and gently (the valve cover is plastic after all) clamp the elbow to the valve cover and see if that changes anything. I don't know that kind of leak would register under EVAP, but who knows? I do know, the NGC system the 2003-2005 cars have, can detect a hole in the EVAP system down to...~0.020" IIRC?
