Got to change the oil soon so should it be:
standard 5-20
high mileage 5-20
semi-synthetic 5-20
full synthetic 5-20
And honestly I think all name brand oils do the job just fine. But which type?
I do a lot of high way driving ,hot weather A/C cranking.
I have always gone with the full synthetic Mobil 1, until my last oil change and went with Royal Purple. So far it does the job. But it is really a choice... if you go syn, you have to stay with it..... not real good to go from syn back to standard.. At least that is what I have been told.

-This was somewhat true back in the 80s. Then synthetic and dino oil were not overly compatible. early syn oil had additives that swelled seals and gaskets to help with leaks. If you switched back, the seals would slowly start to shrink back to their normal size and leaking would occur. But probably for the past 10 years or so, they are completely compatible with each other. I use mostly Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 in mine. A few times I used Valvoline Syn-Power or Mobil 1 if I found a deal on it, but I usually stick with the Platinum. That and a NAPA Gold filter and you're set.
If you aren't looking for extended OCIs and/or aren't positive the engine is in good enough condition internally to handle a full synthetic, go with a high mileage semi-syn. Valvoline MaxLife High Mileage Synthetic Blend is what I was using every oil change until I went to full synthetic, and is a darn good oil for the price. They do also have a High Mileage Full Synthetic if you want to give it a go. If I could find the H.M. Full-Syn, I'd probably use that instead of Pennzoil Platinum, if it were the same price or cheaper.
Motorcraft filters are in fact made by Purolator to Ford specs. They are pretty much on par with the "Classic" filters. Last I heard, that is who makes the oil.
