As a lot of you know I just got an '05 Neon a little while ago. The first couple tankfuls of mostly highway driving with no A/C on I was getting 32 to 33 MPG.
I have been off work for 10 days so most of my driving has been city with the A/C on and a 120 mile trip into the Rocky Mountains with the A/C going and some steep grades and altitudes around 9000 feet. I still got 30 MPG!
This car "really hates gas" as the used car ads say about every small car they advertise.

 

Neons are gas queens like I have been told on another forum. My 04 auto with over 180,000 husband and I went to st louis almost 800 mile trip got 36mpg too and from without air. Your 05 is doing great in town and highway. Been to the rockys with my neon also and got around that mpg.

 

Hah my Neon gets like 27, 28. But my engine light has been on again, and I haven't checked for what.
