Timing Belt
My girlfriend has a 2003 dodge neon (4 cyl, sohc). The timing belt broke while she was driving. I am aware this is an intermittent eng and that an enginge clash could have occurred and am just optimistic that this is something I can fix. This is what I have so far. I replaced the the timing belt and was able to get it to start in short sperts and can only keep it running by feeding it gas. I performed a compression and got 150lbs, 0lbs, 30lbs, 0lbs of pressure for cylinder 1, 2, 3, 4 respectively. Any help on what these results indicate( cracked pistons, bent valves etc) would be greatly appreciated.
When the timing belt breaks on an interference engine, you are about 99.9999% likely to bend valves. Instead of just replacing the valves, you will probably save a lot of money and time by pulling the head off of a wrecked one at a junkyard, or finding a complete one on eBay/Craigslist and swapping them.
