2002 Dodge Neon Help
I want to replace the stock air filter. To me it takes up room and i want to know what parts i need so that i can take it out and put a new and better one in. I'm not a huge car guy but if i can get a list of parts that i need that would help.
Better as in...more expensive? The stock system flows more air than the engine needs, which means there isn't anything "better." You can buy a $200-$300 CAI that will not only make the intake sound a bit louder, but increase the chances of hydrolocking the engine if you drive it in wet weather because the filter sits there in the open with nothing to stop the water from getting in.
Short answer, yes.
At first I thought a CAI would be a good way to get more air to the engine. After looking into it I've found that it's pretty near useless.
The tube leading into the intake is quite large enough for a stock engine. It's also very short and no angles to cause any flow bottlenecks.

okay. well thanks for the help and now il move on to a new project. The only reason i wanted to do this was because it would help me make room and i could get to my head lights. My kit prevents me from getting my headlight out and now i will just take the filter off and pt it back on to change headlights.
