Doing your own work does save tons of money plus who can you trust at dealerships and other shops. Very picky of my neon and wont let anyone work on her but my husband and I . So good for you dodge girl for fixing your neon yourself and good luck.

I busted my timing belt 2 times, and both times i was lucky and didnt bend any valves.. Im starting to think that the pistons dont come high enough to hit the valves when the belt breaks. Im thinking most likely what happend to yours is your water pump locked up, and when it did, naturally it broke your timing belt wit it, and, when it locked up, the pulley and impellar prolly had enough force to split the pump casing, and thats where the coolant has came from.. I dont see why you would have to change the engine, no worrys on that, Just your water pump and timing belt, MAYBE some valves, but like i said, ive busted my belt 2 times and neve rhad to replace a valve..

True. It wouldn't hurt to just pull the head first, instead of the whole engine, and see what is going on underneath. Everything may be fine.

that's the first 2.0 Neon I've ever heard that didn't bend a single valve when the timing belt let go.

i know it broke the pump casing...but imma buy a belt and do a check and see if everything is alright! my father seems to think that my valves arent bent and its just the pump and the belt but i guess we will see ill have to keep ya'll posted but its going to be a little bit. but bare with me please! lol daycare salary doesnt pay enough to cover all your bills and fix your car!
