Angry **NO BUS** error

whats up guys? been a while.. lol

So during a burnout contest, somehow the bracket that the power steering pump, and also mounts your engine, ripped outta my block. Busted the bolt holes completely out, so i had to change blocks. While i was building this block, i was switching the sensors over into the new block and i broke the crankshaft positioning sensor. * the sensor that is right above the oil filter. * Well i got a new one and put it in, and put the car back together.
I got inside to fire it up, and when i pushed the clutch and turned the key, it did nothing. Not even click.. So i first got out and checked my starter and all the connections on it. Then cleaned the battery terminals and the connections to the starter, and still got nothing. Well i noticed my fuel pump wasnt kickin on, so i figured i wouled see what codes it was throwing. I did the whole pushing your trip button and turn the key on and off 3 times, and it wouldnt show nothing. After a few seconds, It came up, * No BuS* in the odometer. Everywhere i have checked on the internet, it says the crank sensor is bad, but i just put a new one in. I used a volt meter and checked the voltage on the plug to the crank sensor, and its getting 8 volts like it should. So im thinkin that the computer cant be fried or it wouldnt be sending a signal to the sensors.
Im just confused, I have no idea what to do. My car is completely dead if you will, the odometer says, no bus. It wont crank, it wont start, the fuel pump dont hum when you turn the key, and even down to the radio, it wont come on, just like it has a dead battery.. BUT the gages work, the interior light work, and is bright, the headlights shine bright. The door dings and it does the slower ding when you turn the key on, anyone know what to do next?

OH btw, I tried using the OBD scanner on it, and the scanner wont turn on, which means that its getting no power from the OBD plug under the dash...

Help me out guys.. IM sooooooooooo stumped on this one.

Could be fuse of somekind or the alternator or the belt.

My truck computer system is not OBD compatible....

The computer is CanBus....its a whole different system

Thats one of the main reasons for the headlight flash when upgrading headlights to HIDS...

The Neon isn't a CAN-BUS vehicle.

well i put another computer in today, went to turn to key to see if it would crank, and it did. So i hooked everything back up and put the front of the motor back together, then got in to start it, well it was crankin and crankin, and then i thought, well i gotta build up fuel pressure, so i turned the key on and off a few times so the fuel pump could build up pressure. Then when i went start it, it went back to the no bus thing again.. it wont crank or nothing again. Im hopin i didnt just fry another computer.. and if i did, what the hell is fryin em.

The no bus message is just a fuse. I had the same issue when I put a new motor in. It is in the fuse block under the hood, it comes from the factory with a piece of plastic on it, looks like a fuse puller, and is normally yellow or blue. If you don't have that thing pull ever fuse and check it VERY carefully. That should help ya

I have seen alot of ppl say that about the fuse with the plasic peice on it that looks like the puller... i put another computer in today, a 3rd one, and its still not crankin, Its not doin the *no bus* thing no more, and the fuel pump is kickin on now, now i cant get it to crank, ive check the fuse panels and checkd for power on the volt meter and its gettin power at least from the relay.. it has to be somethign from the clutch switch.. iono.. btw for everyone to know.. i have heard alot about the no bus bein caused by that fuse with the puller thing... and no.. when that fuse is pulled, the odometer just reads *fuse* i pulled it just to test it and see what it does.. so just to clear that up.. any input, please help me out.

where the hell are you roush? hahah ok so heres whats new, the new computer i just put in started doin the no bus **** again.... so now im stumped... surely i havnt fried this many computers.... BUT while redoing my wire harness, i rememberd that the plug on the started was a single brown wire that ran to the plugs, not the computer.. So i traced it down just to make sure, and yes, the starter bypasses the computer all together. So shouldnt my car be cranking anyways? even if the computer was fried? I had a 96 expresso a couple years back that fried a computer and i was still able to crank it. Now also, does anyone know if there is a saftey feature of somekind that maybe after the computer sees me try to start my car so many times it shuts itself down to keep from damaging it? causing the * no bus * till the problem is fixed? Im going to be goin thru the harness from my power distribution box under the hood to the inside of hte car to see if i can figure out whats causing the car not to crank.... IM gettin so close to sellin this thing. but my luck as soon as i do, the person that buys it will be a complete noob, but yet figure out the problem in 10 mins and be drivin her around infront of me.. ughhh. come on guys, i need ya here haha

so I didn't feel like looking back at all tho old posts... and my last one did not help.... and it still won't crank.

My first thought after going through what you have is to pull the starter and manually engage it. Grab a nice thick wire and run it strait from the battery to the starter and touch it to the starter positive, with the starter grounded.

The starter should do TWO things, first the little gear should move forward or up and it should spin.

If one of these two does not happen you need a new one. If it does both, and when reconnected still don't crank, listin to see if the starter is spinning when bolted back up. If it is then the crankshaft gear (not sure the tech name) is messed up. If it is not spinning but was when disconnected then your motor could be seized.

If I was there I could help ya real quick....... but it is hard to go just off of a little text and not being abold to hear and feel.......... let me know what you find and I will try to help more.
