So I've had this Neon a few months. In 10k miles, I have put 3-4 qts of oil in it. I have noticed smoke once as my wife was pulling away with the engine warm (she had driven about 15 miles and just dropped me off). Shade tree mech at work says it could be valve seats which he could change in an hour or rings, which is big buck rebuild. Fleet service mech said if it smokes when warm, it's rings and time to get rid of the car. He thought I told him I was putting in a qt every 1k miles. He got me aggitated and I requestioned him and pointed out how it's been to Dallas (300 miles each way) and back, Houston and back(90 miles each way), and work 5 times (710 miles total) since I put oil in, and had to add half a qt this morning. He said in that case it's not that bad. I pointed out to him my dad had a Chebby that we had to put a qt in every tank of gas for probably 2 years and it was still running when he traded it in. He said I should be ok for a while.
