Same thing around here for a ball joint press, though, I'd have thought that was a much more common tool? Good luck with the hunt!

I usually remove the crank sprocket with a sharp air chisel. Split the sucker in half and it falls right off. Don't split it near the keyway Put the new one on with a big axle nut socket

I saw a video on youtube of a guy driving one on with a big dead blow sledge hammer. I tried that and it didn't work for me. With the depth being set by the installation tool, I think that I will use it. I don't want to do this again because the belt got torn up for being on too far.

I gave up the search and bought one of the installation tools. Just waiting on UPS to bring it. So if any of you guys need one let me know. I will let you use it unlike SOME people.

ok... Got everything put back together and torqued down. The timing is perfect and everything is back where it should be. However, we decided to try and fire it up before putting all of the serpentine belt stuff back together. It wouldn't start. I noticed that Dodge, in their endless wisdom, made the connectors for the cam sensor and the coil pack exactly the same. Yes you guessed it, I swapped them. Fixed that and it still won't start. It sounds like it is trying but there is no spark to be found. Tested the fuel rail and we have pressure. Tested the coil and it seemed to be fine with a ohm test. Swapped the cam sensor on the used head with the one off the old head and nothing. I did replace the oil switch sensor and it seems fine. I did clear the computer and check for codes and I got the 1684 (battery disconnected last 50 starts) and 0601 for the PCM. This code has been there from the day we got the car so it doesn't worry me too much.

Does the alternator have to be turning for the PCM to give power to the coil pack??? Anyone have any other ideas before I go and buy some marshmallows???

Thanks
Nathan

Who is "they?" It is a 105,000 mile maintenance item. I replaced mine at 108,000. There are instances where they go out early, but can also last much longer than they "should."

i can't exactly remember where i saw that online, but it even says 105.000 in my manual.. and they probably could last longer, like our truck which has 160.000 on it and it still runs like new, never had any engine problems. but i think im going to replace it at 105.000 just to be safe. i would rather buy an extra belt than a whole new engine..

Did a relay or fuse blow?

OK I checked the fuses but I'm not sure if a relay would stop the spark. I also put the serpentine belts on. The larger harmonic balancer from the 04' fits perfect with the larger belts. Thats one thing that has gone well. But, the stupid car still will not start. There is no fire at all on any of the cylinders. I have no other trouble codes and the good mechanic that I used to know is MIA. I was going to try and have it hooked up to a real scanner computer to see if it could find anything. I'm out of ideas! The only thing that I can think is that the PCM is shot.

Any other ideas that would stop spark???

Thanks and if someone nails this I will buy you dinner out at the restaurant of your choice!

thanks again,
Nathan
