So lately I've wanted a lot more power out of my Neon and the engine really hasn't cut it for me. I plan on taking out the engine and transmission out and selling them and sink in the rear of the vehicle a V8 with an AWD transmission. Crazy, stupid or possible? Thoughts?

*I understand it will be a lot of fabricating and welding and I know how to do it and have friends that are willing to help.

I think this sounds good as an idea. Nothing more.

The amount of money it would take, the amount of man hours..

Just buy another car if you're bored with your Neon.

 

I would say give it a try if you have the time and money and friends than go for it. Doesnt hurt to try and you never know you might make your neon into a v8and fwd .

 

1. Its a ****ing tight fit in that engine bay as it is, add 4 more cylinders? HOLY ****!
2. The amount of work on that would be INSANE.

If you want to do something REALLY crazy, get a Mazda RX7 20b engine and put that into your Neon. Or even a 13b.

 

Now THAT would be worth the time and energy.

I saw a ford 302 mounted midship in an early 90's Caravan with a Ford 9" rear. Really cool. Just shows anything can be done with a screwdriver, hammer, and duct tape

 

I've seen a TT 4.6L setup in a Focus. I've also seen some monstrous forced induction engine in a Focus, that was also converted to RWD.
