Prothane Bushings...
FYI I am a roofer. With that said, DO NOT USE BUTYL CAULK OF ANY KIND. It does not EVER dry. It is used for keeping water out of flexible flat roofing areas and for sealing gutters. I just patched a flat roof and the sealant that I used on another part of the roof was still soft under the rubber. That was 2 years ago. Polyurethane, such as Vulkeym, will work much better.
-Thanks for the tip on the butyl. While I've done a couple roofing jobs before, I've never used that stuff. I was just thinking of something besides plain old silicone to use to fill the gaps. Butyl is out of here....

-I saw that, Hemi. But I posted about using either butyl rubber or the poly that you posted about. I didn't realize that butyl wouldn't harden. Looks like I'll go with the polyurethane you showed me.

In all fairness, in the other thread, you said to use butyl rubber. I think he was just informing everyone as a whole since it was mentioned in here too.
the butyl tube i had used on the first mount I replaced was something other than roofers butyl as it did harden (now by harden I mean it is quite flexible) once i find a product shot of it on the net I will post. better yet when i clear the snow off the neon ill take a pic of the joint to show nothing has oozed out
this is also the xperimental joint(1st one ive tried) which i bandsawed hockey puck inserts, So I chose butyl as i wanted to bond the two rubbers together. Rubber cement may have worked but I was unsure how that would hold up to the elements.
the second joint i completely filled the joints with the poly pictured in this thread. firmed it up but wont rattle my fillings out. oh and it dried flexible and adhered well to the factory rubber.

-Well, finally got it realigned today. Took it to get it done last Monday and found out the passenger's side tie rod end was just about shot. Changed them both out with new TRW ends Saturday when I got home from work. Took me about an hour to do both sides. When I pulled the bad one off, I could grab the threaded and and spin it like a noise maker. Yeah, it was shot. Driver's side barely had any play in it, but might as well change them both and get them done right. No more front end noise at all. This should be it for now until I do the timing belt, water pump, belt and hoses in the spring.
