Default what happened 2 the plugs?

About a week ago, our 04 sxt neon hasn't been running the same, it's mostly the idling...kinda of off. This happened after I raced it and ran the rpm very high, but I didn't redline it. Our neon got alot of power, due to installing a srt4 dual pipe at the end and installing a 31 inch cherry bomb in the mid section.
Anyway, yesterday I checked the plugs and they were fried! I had a set of ngk iridiums from modern. What would cause that problem? I installed the stock plugs back in and now it's running alot better than it was. Some of the tips on the ngk were burnt and missing! What do you think? These plugs were only in for about a month or so.

Oh you dont race a sxt with just a stock srt exhaust with a cherry bomb thats probably why your plugs went to crap you were very hard on it . I never race my 04 sxt and it has a borla with a 31inch stainless steel glasspack . I take very good care of my sxt shes pretty much babyed . Why would you want to be hard on your sxt when you have your srt4 to go fast in.

Well you learn from mistakes like that, it's not that often I race it, just once in awhile. Well from here on, I'll take it easy on the sxt. yes I do have a srt4 and I don't raced it all the time too. i just needed a question answered from another point of view. Thanks for the feedback.

I was not trying to give you any trouble I was just saying you probably didnt gap them right or something like that and running it hard will sometimes fry the plugs . I have done that before in my 1st gen neon. Im just saying everyone needs to be nice to there neon and other rides. You might of gotten some bad plugs also . I have gotten some bad plugs from modern and autozone before . THey should have warrenty you should try to call modern and see if you can exchange them with some others.

I drive the heck out of my car at times with those "crappy" Champion plugs and mine still last 30K. Maybe it has something to do with the waste-spark ignition I always mention, but no one ever seems to care to listen...

The plugs that fried in my 1st gen were plain champions . Never had a problem with any ngks except ones from modern and the same ones you used srt. Ever since than I have used ngk-v power cooper plugs in my op way better than plain champons. Not very many use champions anymore in their neon and srt4 most use ngks.

I'm running the ngk iridiums in the srt4 at this time and hasn't given me any trouble so far, but somehow it did to the sxt. I'm glad I caught that in the nick of time. Since I got the stock plugs back in, it's been running way better. I was thinking that maybe a vacuum line came off or one of my spark wires were shortening. I don't know if a colder plug would help the scenerio. Anyway, thanks for all the comments. Have a super week!

Stick with Champions. Change every 30,000. The story is always the same. No real problems in 223,000 miles. And don't forget new wires every other plug change. Just good p.m.
