So $80.00 and they are now installed. 4" of snow 3 days ago. Tried them out in the field behind the house, and they are like having chains on. Also tried them on some ice on the hill that goes into the concrete yard in front of the barn. Not too bad either.

now dont be too overconfident in the snow, even with snow rubber you can still end up in a ditch lol

All season tires are probably better seeing you dont waste your money buying snow tires for just the winter when you just buy all season to last all through the year. Im out for saving money as much as I can thats the way I see it.

For snow tires, I use Michelin X-Ice Xi2's in 195/60 R15's on stock wheels. They have awesome grip on ice/snow, in my opinion they feel as confident in ice/snow as all-seasons do on dry road. I have to actually "try" to slide with them on the neon.

For some reason, I'm thinking WI gets a bit more snow in the winter than where you are...

Not like the kind of snow where I am got last yr wow worst winter I have ever seen and so far so good with no snow as of yet. But winter is not even here until the 21st. Even if I lived where there was a ton of snow still dont believe in getting snow tires that you just use for a few months when all season tires are just as good and use them all year long alot of guys and gals like me have all season tires and live in worst states for snow and all season tires do really good for them.

Because all season tires aren't made for feet of snow, as well as ice. That's why they are ALL season, not winter. I get snow too, but I'm not going to run out and get snow tires.

last winter here in canada if you had bought snows you would have wasted your money. but the year before we had a tonne of snow.
theres no comparison between all seasons and snows. many of the hills here you would never be able to climb without snow tires. never fails the traffic always stops at the bottom of a hill taking away all if any momentum. then when you try to start out again all you do is spin.

my neon with the 5gear in my opinion is a little too torquey off the line which causes wheel spin galore. find myself starting out in 2nd alot in the winter.

do you go out in the winter wearing sandals or running shoes? I wear my winter boots

I never wear boots just my tennis shoes even to go out and play in the snow I wear tennis shoes with my winter socks . I dont see many around iowa that have snow tires so I guess where theres more snow like canada and michigan and wisconsin and states like those places would need better tires. I also have a truck to drive in the snow and ice which 4x4s are so very nice to have for just winter driving very fun . My neon I dont drive much in the snow seeing I have a truck.
