Question 2004 Neon SXT...Issues, Issues, Issues...

Okay, my first post explained that my dash lights and my tail lights were not working, so I replaced the 15 amp fuse. The lights started working correctly after that, but every time I turn on my head lamps, the wipers come on. I just turn the wipers on and off again on the wiper stalk to get them to stop. I also replaced the wiper fuse as well just in case. I also discovered that when I pull the lever on the wiper stalk to spray wiper fluid on my windshield, no fluid sprays out at all, but the wipers work. Then, I found out that when I blow the horn on the steering wheel, my wipers come on as well. So in general, if I turn on my headlights, the wipers come on and if I use my horn, the wipers come on. Ok, by now, I am utterly confused. There was some mention by a couple of members concerning melted wiring near the Multi-Function switch or the switch itself could be bad. Well, I am wondering if the issue with the wiper fluid spray, the headlight wiper issue, and the horn-wiper issue is all due to the MFS issue? I can't believe all this crazy stuff is happening at the same time and not be attributed to one common issue...I hope that all of this is because of the switch and not 3-4 different issues at once. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks! Bill

Hey Bill
the MFS is one of the most likely culprits. the possibility of wires rubbed through or melted is a very good possibility too.
Do you have a multimeter?
gonna have to dig into it and tell us a little more of what you see, the symptoms you describe sound to me like a wiring issue, follow the wires down the collumn looking carefully for anything that looks abnormal.
If you need a wiring diagram I can post 4 you

It's because almost everything is controlled from that one switch

The wipers are on a different stalk, but it's all one switch behind the steering wheel AFAIK. If the wiring behind it all melts, it could be shorting them either way.

The switch usually goes when the wiring does; needs to be checked either way...agreed.
