Default 'Hey there' from new member...

I've just joined the forum. Been reading threads for the past 2 hours or so...lots of great info...thanks!

I don't have a dd neon but race an '03 Neon stock car at local 1/4 and 1/3 mile tracks. Been racin for a few years now. Learnin as I go and as I rip apart & rebuild.

Anybody know where I could get a detailed set of wiring diagrams for my '03 neon? I have the Haynes manual but can be misleading/not very detailed regarding wiring. I need it mainly for the cluster wires...wanna figure out which wire is for the tach signal?? On 95-99 its the light grey with light blue stripe wire but is not included in the '03 wire harness.

If I can't figure it out I'll need a converter for the ign coil.

Appreciate any advice!

that tachs gonna cost you alot,

or
http://www.modernperformance.com/tac...er-p-1142.html

depending on your setup, i've tried splicing into the wires going to the coil pack, i think one will give you half readings, another half readings and the other no reading and when you try to use the two half reading wires you miss fire like crazy

yeah, I've tried that before on an old gen neon race car. The rpm needle jumped all over the dial...not accurate. Another racing buddy told me he picked up a converter to connect to the ign coil for about $150 on Jegs I think.

That should help a lot, thanks!
I'll take a closer look at it and find the tach signal wire sig wire...if it's there that is.

Am I staring right at it like a fool, or does the diagram not indicate what wire is the tach signal?

yeah without the converter even when you splice into the signal wires you wont get the right reading, i've tried it and so have a bunch of other members on here, when doing so there is a 3 wire clip into your coil, thats where the 03-05 sensors read from, if u try to hook the tach directly up to any combo of those wires you will get 2 half reading combos(around 4k rpms redline it will read) and 1 no reading combo and one combo that miss fires your engine

Have you ever tried it out on an old gen neon? My tach worked with a straight hook up to the harness wire (1997 neon)

The cluster spedometer, Tach, and ECT gagues are positioned using PCI BUS messages from the PCM. so no independant tach signal

also i guess thats why you need some expensive module
