I was driving down the highway and my neon's engine just shut off. Lights radio everything was still working and i had just gotten an oil change because i went out of town. I pulled over and the starter makes a grinding noise but that's the only thing that happens when i turn the key. The alarm (aftermarket) lights (all) radio work, battery is tight but nothing from the engine. Any help would help like i said i'm just stuck with it.

 

How many miles are on it?

 

Your battery might be going bad or your alternator maybe.

 

pull the plugs and see if it rotates by hand(rule out seized engine)

 

I'm wondering miles - timing belt.

Call AAA and get it to your driveway/parking lot/garage for further evaluation. Where is this 'grinding' noise coming from?

 

97000 I got a diognostic ran on it and it's telling me timing belt and cam shaft. that's where i'm starting

 

from the starter

 

Camshaft sensor or new camshaft. Also good to change your timing belt I need to change mine for the 2nd time seeing I have so many miles on mine now.
