2003 neon needs new clutch
so today i bought an 03 neon 2.0 5 spd, and i tesdrove it and everything was fine, untill i drove it back, the clutch went out! i was so mad, how hard is it to do this job by yourself?
bum luck man, but rest assured its something thats suppoesed to wear out(albeit a lil early IMHO)
its a large job as the trans needs to separate with the engine but not anything that will take any special tools or skills.
what I'm saying is its basically nuts and bolts.
when you buy a replacement clutch Insist on a Luk brand clutch and release bearing
do your timing belt while your at it and fresh fluids (then you will be sure as to the maintenace of the car from now on)
u can get all the info into the clutch replacement here on the forum
and will be able to do yourself for couple hundred bucks VS. what a shop would charge you.

im going to have the shop right down the road from me do it, they fix all my cars big issues that i cant fix my self, they said it would be $600 parts and labor, im gunna go ahead and do it, the guy i bought it from wanted $3k for it but i talked him down to $2,300 so i still got some money left over, this car has 70k miles on it and its in pretty good shape, it just has a dent in the passengers side door.
yah it sounds good to me, the previous owner was a punk kid that drove it like a race car and did not know how to drive a stick the rite way. but even thought this happed to it , i still love this car and its in good hands, i baby all my cars. me and my father restored a 68 cougar xr-7 and its awesome! i used to have a saab 900s, i loved it, i did alot to it too, but the clutch was starting to go on that so i sold it, a clutch job for that car was $1000-$1500, so i sold it and bought a 1900 jeep yj wrangler, it seemed great at first, only 74k miles, but we found out it that it wasnt the original engine and someone had poorly put in a horrible engine it had tons of problems and needed a new engine, sold that then bought this, hoping for a good car, then the clutch goes, no biggy though, ill have it fixed by the end of the week, then ill doo the timing belt and stuff
