5W-20, 5W-30 or 10W30. 4.5 quarts with filter. Dodge recommends Mobil1. Not worth the money IMO. Valvoline, Pennzoil or Motorcraft is what I have run in mine.

I use 10w30(conventional) in mine
depending on the climate where you live if its really cold and you dont use block heater you may want to use a lighter weight oil.
I use a PH16 filter as it holds a bit more oil than the 3642(cant really remember the number as I havent bought one in ages)

Im with darth on the Mobil 1 (stuffs not worth the money AT ALL!) they claim that mobil engines dont sludge up, this is a frudulent claim by Mobil.

one 4.5L jug and a filter is all you will need

Does the PH16 stick down past the oil pan hemi? How much more does it hold vs. the recommended filter? I've always wanted to make the oil change a full 5 quarts, but the bigger filters have always stuck out past the oil pan.

-I pick up 5 qt jug of Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 and I also use the oversized filter. It doesn't hang below the oil pan at all. Just a larger circumference. After the oil change, I have roughly 1/3 quart of oil left for a top off between changes. Lately I've been using NAPA Gold filters that are just rebadged Wix.

the main reason I use em is I have a tonne of them. they are stock filter for the 3.0L in the fleet of minivans I service. I wouldnt really recommend to do this in yours there are much better filters than the PH16.(i use K&N on the swinger)

as for dimensional size, they are larger in diameter so its not hanging below the pan but quite chubby so closer to the rubber vibe damper on 1/2 shaft but could never connect with

Synthetic oil would do fine, but do you need it? That's the more important question to ask.

-I use synthetic oil in mine, as I have since I bought it with just under 20k on it. I want this car to last as long as I possibly can. I also have a '94 Tempo that I've had for going on 13 years with 205k on it. I don't buy cars every other year as you can tell, so I want to do what ever I can to help keep them running as I can. Is it worth it? To me, yes....
