Default CD changer stuck (display code "ERR")

2000 4 door.
Factory changer.

Went to try and play a cd today and the light on the CD number button I was pushing blinked and then nothing. I finally get an ERR message on my display. None of the cds will eject or play. Get same ERR message on any of the cd's I try to change or play.

I did have the battery undone before all this happened. Wonder if I should try to undo it again to rest? Any other ways to reset radio/cd?

My changer wigs out on me occasionally as well. When I got the car, all of the lights were on, but when I pushed the eject buttons nothing happened. I banged on it pretty hard and ended up getting CD's out of it that the previous owner must not have been able to eject. It works fine most of the time now, but every once in a while it will just change to the next CD for no reason.

I think what they really need is disassembled and cleaned, but I haven't bothered to try it yet. Plus it works most of the time, so I haven't seen a need yet.

Same happened to my srt4 and I tried everything to remove the cds...I ended up pulling the changer out and switched with a used one again. This was the 6 cd changer, not the radio itself. So it works fine now.
