Default 2001 died while driving

My girlfriend has a 2001 dodge neon 2.0L Manuel transmission. She was driving home from work and her car died on the highway. The car will still not start, although it does turn over. All of the electrical stuff inside the car is working just fine but I just replaced the battery. I was hoping that it was just needing a new battery but it still does not start. After researching on the web I looked towards the fuel pump and filter. I checked the fuel pump and it is working. I have not hooked it up to a computer yet for codes because I do not have one readily available. Any suggestions or directions would be helpful. I have a feeling it is electrical but I am not certain. Thank you for any help! It really is appreciated!

you can check for codes without a reader and it wouldn't hurt to replace the filter

I checked the codes and it said it was the camshaft positioning sensor, I also noticed there was some oil in the sensor so apparently I have to replace an o ring as well
