Default Axle Damage

I am looking at a 05 sxt that the owner claims hit a curb with both front wheels, The passenger wheel and strut are bent and wheel is off of axle. the driver side wheel is damaged (broken alloy wheel) Does anyone think this car is worth buying for $2200. It has 71,000 miles and the body has no damage at all. can the transmission or engine have been damaged or are the axles made to come free to protect the trans. I am going to look at the car but want to know if it worth fixing at the price they are asking any quick answer will help time is important thanks

I'd find out how much it will be to repair everything, and then decide if all together the purchase is worth it to you. Might be able just to find one in better condition for almost the same price after all is said and done.

too much money. Sounds like it's going to have sub-frame damage. Where I work, we buy cars with damage similar to this for under $1000. Right now I'm fixing an 04 Olds Alero that needs a RF fender, bumper cover, strut, spindle, a-frame, wheel, inner fender, right headlights, a/c accumulator, and a slight frame pull. I've just about got everthing done for the boss, just waiting on the bumper cover. He bought the car for $500, rounded up all the parts for under $200 (except bumper cover is $150 new), put in what he's paying me for my labor and he'll have under $1300 in it.
